Auburn football has started!

As Bill headed to Atlanta for the Alabama-Clemson game, Lindsay and I took Henry to Auburn to experience his first game. Auburn played Louisiana-Monroe and shut them out at home. It wasn't the most exciting game, but a good start to a fun year! Alabama won, so Bill was happy too.
We tailgated all day. We walked to the new student union building - which is amazing!! Dad and Papa Simms wanted to re-enroll in school. Ha! It has a Starbucks, Chick-fil-A, pizza place and lots of room to sit and study and use computers. We then visited the University Bookstore and decided we couldn't live without a t-shirt among other Auburn paraphernalia. We walked while Henry napped and then met our friend Luke, Karen and Tim Johnson's son (Karen was Lindsay's pledge sister/roommate in ATL), and Margaret and Trippy McGuire. Jimbo and his girlfriend, Caroline, came from Orlando (Caroline from Arizona) and our regular Eufaula/Birmingham crowd. It was a fun, exhausting day!

Henry's summer

We have had a busy summer! Poppa, Aunt Molly and Aunt Alyce kept Henry one weekend in July when Bill and I floated down the Tallapoosa River with friends. Tish kept Henry several times when we had events at night. My mom and dad kept him this past weekend so Bill and I could attend Matt and Kelli Alfred's rehearsal dinner and wedding. So, Henry is loving his family!
Here are some recent pictures.
Bill and I took Henry to the club this past Sunday to introduce him to the baby pool and putting green. I think Bill had more fun than Hen.
In one picture, Henry is wearing one of my baby gowns and laying on my baby blanket. Thank goodness my mom saved my sweet baby things.

Bill, Henry, and I went to Birmingham Friday night to see baby Cole Douthit, Wade and Melina's new, precious baby. We met Robert, Jennifer, Tate, and the Douthits at Dave's Pizza for dinner. Dave's is definitely a family place! When I lived in Birmingham, we would eat dinner there and enjoy a little live music... now, Friday night is family night! After dinner, we spent the night with the Robertsons and enjoyed watching the opening ceremony for the Olympics.

Saturday morning we met Patsy and headed to her sister's house in Blount Springs. Aunt Sue Ann lives in Mountain Brook, but has this place in Blount Springs as a weekend home. It's an old family place on the top of a mountain with a 9-hole golf course (which occupied Bill for the first hour or so we were there). It's an old dog-trot house that has been converted into the main living place up there, with a two-bedroom guest house next to it. It has an amazing screened porch with a huge swing and lots of rockers. There is a third house down the mountain that has two bunk bed rooms. You have to take a cable car to get there, or you can drive, but of course we chose the cable car! There is a spring fed swimming pool that's quite chilly! The third house on the side of the mountain and the pool are nestled in so beautifully between to high peaks. It's truly an amazing site and a place we thoroughly enjoy. It's so quiet and peaceful and absolutely gorgeous!

he'll get in trouble for this one day

Henry has started sticking his tongue out! I love coming home to hear Sarah tell me the new things he is doing during the day. I noticed the tongue about a week ago, but I think he was just rubbing it along his new teeth. Now, he is sticking it out all the time... and he thinks it's funny.
It's amazing to watch your child discovery new parts of their body. I dare say he has discovered a private area... which isn't so private when your diaper is changed 5+ times a day! Right now he doesn't know what it is, but soon enough he'll know exactly what it is - I'm not sure I'm looking forward to living with two boys! I didn't think I'd ever call my son "Little Bill", but this child is just like his father - looks and all! HA!!

not one, but two....

TEETH! I didn't realize that Henry would get them so early. The first one broke through last Friday night, then the second started showing yesterday. He has been pretty good - after all you hear about the fussiness of teething - until now. It's not terrible, but a little more fussiness than normal. We are also chewing on EVERYTHING!

We were supposed to go to Atlanta this weekend to attend a Viking cooking class (something Lindsay and I gave Dad for Father's Day) and a Braves game (Will's gift to Dad), but we didn't make it. Henry is in NO MOOD to travel, neither are we with a fussy baby!
