We had a busy weekend! After helping host a baby shower for Baby Chapman Baker and his mom, Rebecca, in Montgomery Saturday morning, we headed to Clayton for a Christmas shower for Amy Cooper. We left Clayton and went south to Dothan to Uncle Bob and Aunt Margie's house where we celebrated our annual Robertson Family Christmas party.
Uncle Bob cooked a beef tenderloin on the grill and Margie made hash brown casserole, corn casserole, her famous 7-layer salad, green beans and rolls. Molly, Eric, Alyce, Billy, Robert, Big Bill, Keitt, Bill and I were all there. Tate and Henry made the trip too - as well as all the pictures. We missed Jennifer because she is sick and stayed in Birmingham.
This is such a fun time of year! It's a time for us to celebrate the birth of Christ with our family and friends. We wish everyone a Merry Christmas!

making a Christmas card

These are few extra pictures to enjoy until yours arrives in the mail.

It's tough to get a babe and a pup to stay put while the camera focuses and has the ridiculous delay before the picture actually takes.

We had a little bit of a fit (Henry) and a little barking at the neighbors (Nelle) and finally Henry took Nelle's cue and crawled away. Merry Christmas!

Turkey Day!

If you know me, then you know I LOVE Thanksgiving. Actually, I love most holidays - Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas are my favs - but who doesn't love these! We changed up our routine this Thanksgiving. Where in the past we've been in Eufaula for Thanksgiving with the Gaither side of the family, we stayed here for Thanksgiving. It was so nice not to rush around. We had Thanksgiving lunch with Patsy, Winn, Molly, Eric, Alyce and Billy at Patsy's house. She had a lovely table set up and the food was incredible! Henry played in his car and stroller - while we enjoyed turkey and dressing. Billy was a great addition and we thoroughly enjoyed getting to know him. As always, we love being with Molly, Alyce, Eric, Patsy, and Winn. They are a great help with Henry too!
We drove to Eufaula on Thanksgiving afternoon - luckily Henry slept the entire way! - and met Big Bill and Keitt at the Blackmons (Charles Blackmon is Keitt's brother). They were so gracious to host us for the afternoon. They ate lunch outside since it was such a beautiful day - so we visited on their back deck and enjoyed family and fellowship for an hour or so and headed to the Robertsons for Henry to have playtime with the pups and Poppa. Big Bill and Keitt have Hooker and Rascal - they are both around Henry's age. Henry loves to watch them play and they love Hen.
We ended up at Mom and Dad's just in time for bedtime. While Henry dreamed, we gave Dad his birthday/Christmas gift - he needed it to watch the Auburn/Alabama game. A great gift for a TERRIBLE game. Ugh! I hope Auburn makes changes before next year!
On Friday, we had Thanksgiving with the Gaither family (Bowmans, Bowmans, Whites, and Williams). Margaret joined us for Thanksgiving - and we are so thankful for her! She and Will are busy peps and we are glad they joined us for our family gathering. Christina came from Savannah and Matthew and his roommate (India native) came from Clemson. It was a wonderful time with family and friends.
God is GOOD!!! Bill, Henry, and I are thankful for wonderful family, friends, and a free country in which to worship such an amazing Creator.

Playing with Nelle

We are constantly on the move... usually following Nelle or rolling to the stereo to play with the knobs. While Sunday was a beautiful day, I didn't feel good. Henry was in a great mood and wanting to play - as always. I slept my morning and much of the day away, while my sweet husband took care of Henry and Nelle in hopes that Henry would wear himself out before I woke. Well, I woke to Henry wanting more playtime - he is so energetic! So, being such a wonderfully tired mom (does it ever end??), I sat on the floor with him and let him watch Nelle playing outside. It was quite entertaining - for all of us.

Santa came early!

Henry has received his first Christmas present - NEW CARPET!!!! Since we moved into this house a year ago, I've wanted to invest in new carpet for our den. I didn't really have a reason before, but now that Henry is on the verge of crawling (or possibly walking - we may just skip the whole crawling thing!) it is perfect timing. Luckily, I still believe in Santa, or Henry might not have been given such a wonderful present! Thanks Santa!!

Old toys, new toys

When mom sold my grandmother's house in Birmingham a couple of years ago, my dad came across this old Fisher-Price horse. This old toy belonged to us, Mama Dear's 5 grandchildren. Dad, the one that can't throw anything away, decided to clean it and keep it for his future grandchildren. This is one time I'm glad he kept something.

The horse "nays" when you move the harness back and forth. It's a weak "nay" these days, but a new sound to Henry. He will sit on the horse and tuck his feet underneath to keep himself steady. He gets so tickled over this toy.

trick-or-treat

http://widget-6e.slide.com/widgets/slideticker.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" quality="high" scale="noscale" salign="l" wmode="transparent" flashvars="cy=bb&il=1&channel=216172782132393070&site=widget-6e.slide.com" style="width:400px;height:320px" name="flashticker" align="middle">

Bill, Henry, and I joined some friends to trick-or-treat in our neighborhood on Friday evening. We met in Cloverdale Park (in front of our church) and started the trek through Cloverdale. Henry is a little young for candy, so we watched Frank Williford, John Allen Lachney, and Owen Earnest go door-to-door while we waited by the curb with our friend Warren Walker Skelley.
Afterwards, we ventured to see our friends, the Garners, and their Halloween graveyard. We got a picture with Frankenstein (Andrew Garner) - which does not do him justice! He's literally 7 1/2 feet tall. Sydney, his wife, gave him all the credit for the decorations, and there was much to be given!

Halloween Carnival

We attended the Halloween Carnival at ECDC Thursday afternoon. Our friend Warren Walker came as a Pea In the Pod.

Pumpkinfest 2008

Our church has Pumpkinfest every year. This year they had a moonwalk, bean bag toss, cookie walk (like musical chairs), pumpkin painting, horse carriage rides, and trunk-or-treat. Patsy, Molly, and Alyce met us at FUMC to enjoy the festivities. Molly helped Henry trunk-or-treat (trick or treating out of the trunks of cars).

Henry is a giraffe for Halloween.... and appears to be a pumpkin-eater! Actually, the babe will put ANYTHING in his mouth. He grabs and stuffs. Luckily, this pumpkin -even though small - was TOO big! Not to worry... he is a fan of streamers. One trunk lost a couple thanks to his precious little grabbing hands.

He missed his afternoon nap, so he's really sleepy in these pictures, but he had a ball... especially after Alyce got him to sleep for a little bit. There was just so much to see!

exploring new places... among other things

Bill went to the Alabama game today, so Henry and I ran errands and watched football... or tried to watch football. He's discovered the stereo system and I just prayed all day he wouldn't mess it up before Bill got home because I haven't got a clue how it works.

We also did laundry... Henry helped.

on the move

Henry is on the verge of crawling.... so that means rolling EVERYWHERE. I left him on his play mat in his room this morning and walked to our room to grab something and turned around to go back to him and he had maneuvered himself into the hall - at least 20 feet from where I left him sitting. He is starting to get stuck in places too - under the couch, surrounded by Nelle.

We also LOVE our toes. They are usually in our mouth.

Seven months is so much fun! Bill said tonight that this is his favorite age... mine too. I do miss the completely dependent baby, but it's fun to see him grow. Plus, he's keeping me in shape!

work, work, work

I was trying to come up with something clever to promote my products, which help develop smart, healthy babies. I didn't have to look far.... Henry. Seven months and reading... or maybe just chewing, but still a smart, healthy babe!

A Special Visit

Our Aunt Sue Ann, Patsy's sister, and Uncle Bo came to town a couple of weeks ago. I'm just now getting the pictures from Patsy's camera. Henry's cheeks are so funny! It reminds me of our cousin Tate when she was younger... looks like the Gerber baby.

a miracle worker

About a month ago, Henry and I were driving to Amanda and Elba's for Claire's birthday party. Henry cried the entire 25-minute ride. I thought I was going to lose my mind! So, my mom suggested a DVD player for the car. For a 6-month-old?? Oh, yes! It's a miracle! He loves watching his Baby Einstein videos and so therefore, loves riding in the car. We left church this morning and drove to the club for lunch then home... 1 mile round trip... the DVD was playing the entire time.

Did I mention that Henry loves playing with his toes?

Halloween and open house

We just got home from open house at ECDC. Bill and I see Henry's friends in his class everyday, but we've never met the other parents. Tonight, we met the parents and shared stories of who flirts with whom and which baby is the class clown, etc. Evidently, the "girl flirt" of the class likes Henry! I refuse to say he has a little "girlfriend", but I'm sure it won't be long!

I love Halloween! October is my favorite month of the year and I always look forward to this month, weather (which is so great right now!), football and all. Henry is enjoying it too! Aunt Lulu (Lindsay) gave Henry a couple of Halloween outfits, so we've started wearing them (especially since we only have a month to do so).

Will gave me a "Flying Mr. P" wine stopper for Christmas last year. I wish you could see it... it's really funny! Anyway, Henry has discovered it as a toy! Luckily, he hasn't found the wine.

three teeth!

No wonder we've been so fussy lately! We now have three teeth... all on the bottom.

after school

We love coming home to play with Nelle everyday! Henry is doing great at ECDC and we love Ms. Sadye, Ms. Vonn, and Ms. Emily. It's hard to leave your child everyday, but when he's happy it is MUCH easier. Plus, we have lots of friends now. We are also rolling over constantly and learning to sit and crawl!

Football at the Robertsons

Our family loves college football. Henry has no choice. This picture was taken Saturday night during the Alabama-Georgia game after our return from Auburn. What you don't see is the picture of Henry Saturday morn in his Auburn jersey tailgating on the Plains. Henry had a BIG football day. War Eagle!! RTR!
